Give Tomorrow

What is “planned giving”?

Put simply, a planned gift is one that is arranged now, but given in the future. Such a gift is usually part of an estate plan.

For example, you could include a gift to ENS in your will or name ENS as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Of course, there are many options from which to choose and we recommend that you seek advice from your tax officer, accountant, or financial planner.

A planned gift to Emma Norton Services (ENS) is a great investment toward helping to end homelessness, chemical dependency, and mental illness recovery and their terrible impact on individuals and families alike.

Planned Gifts

You will need a current will or living trust in order to designate a charitable bequest.

Your gift can be either a percentage of your estate or set amount of cash, securities or property. A percentage gift is often most popular as it ensures that your gift remains proportionate to the estate value regardless of fluctuation.

Beneficiary Designations
Naming the individuals and charities that will receive your assets after your lifetime can be a simple process. Most assets can pass to your intended beneficiaries by the terms of your will. Other assets, such as retirement plans, life insurance and insurance annuities, however, are not controlled by the terms of your will. These assets instead require separate beneficiary forms.

The beneficiaries of these assets can be easily modified at any time to meet your changing needs:

  • IRA and retirement plans
  • Life insurance policies
  • Insurance annuities

Endowment Gifts
An endowment provides financial security and an infinite income stream to Emma Norton Services and allows a donor to support ENS beyond his or her lifetime.

When you give an endowment to the Emma Norton Services Legacy Fund, only a small portion of your gift will be spent, allowing the remaining amount to continue to grow. That portion of your gift will continually supplement our programs and services for generations to come.

Your own endowment can be created using cash, securities or other assets, or you can contribute to our Emma Norton Services Legacy Fund.

You can also set up an honorary endowment in your will.

Please let us know if you have included Emma Norton Services in your will or if you would like more information about estate planning options by contacting the ENS Development Department at ENS@emmanorton.org or (651) 251-2632.
